MOT exemptions extended to a year in Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland drivers whose MOT expiry dates fall due during the Coronavirus shutdown will benefit from a one-year exemption.

Drivers will instead apply for their MOT date as normal next year.
It would be possible to cope with the backlog in addition to conducting normal business at MOT test centres, infrastructure minister Nichola Mallon said.

Ms Mallon said: “I have decided the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) will continue to issue temporary exemption certificates (TECs) to those vehicles, private cars, goods vehicles, trailers or motorcycles until their normal MOT date.
